“Excellent location, lovely service, will return”
Our enjoyable stay at the Sumner got off to an excellent start with a warm welcome, complete with tea and cookies, from the night clerk. We found the Sumner to be nicely appointed and spotlessly clean. Amenities including hotel-wide wifi and the computer, books and light snacks available in the common room added to the comfort of our stay. The Sumner is located in a pleasantly busy neighbourhood that is conveniently located close to the Marble Arch tube stop, Oxford St. and Hyde Park. There are also very good Middle Eastern restaurants and other excellent noshing spots nearby including Argentinian cuisine at Casa Malevo and an upscale but deliciously. decadent bakery and chocolate shop Cocomaya. I would also note that The Sumner puts out a very good breakfast. I read a few reviews that indicated that the breakfast was only fair so had low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to find a tasty buffet of fresh whole and sliced fruits, yogurt, breads, juices, tea, coffee, eggs two ways, a variety of cereals, sausages and breakfast beans. All in all an excellent stay. We would return. Source: Trip Advisor

“Great location”
Recently stayed at The Sumner Hotel. Great location, 2 blocks from Marble Arch underground and Hyde Park. Good sized, air conditioned rooms. Hotel has an excellent complimentary breakfast and an elevator so there is no toting bags up the stairs. Hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating. Suggestg you check it out for your next stay in London. Source: Trip Advisor

“Just What We Wanted”
Ideal location very close to Marble Arch/Hyde Park. The room we had was comfortable, clean and we had more than sufficient room. It was located at the back of the Hotel which is quieter than the front so you can open windows for fresh air. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice including traditional English, along with cereals, fruit, cheese, bread, olives, choice of juices, tea, coffee etc.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
The location is close to Marble Arch Tube Station and provides good access to the rest of London sites. If like me, you enjoy jogging, Hyde Park is perfect first thing in the morning before Breakfast for a run! It is surprising how many other runners were in the park.
Would we go back to The Sumner- yes we would.
A previous poster recommended the pub next door- we agree. After a hectic day in London it was ideal to sit outside ion relative peace with a drink. Source: Trip Advisor

“Great Location great value”
This hotel is located a few minutes away from Marble Arch and Oxford Streets and easy walking distance to many of London's attractions and shopping. The hotel almost unassuming from the exterior opens to a wonderful sitting area in the front and where free water, chocolates and internet access - the hotel also offers free wif-fi...Rooms were large, and the bathrooms modern, and came equiped with a mini-fridge, and ironing board, as well as a/c and king size beds - a great find in the smaller hotels in London. Breakfast is buffet but offers just about everything you could want, from sausagues to bacon, eggs and more...Hotel staff will recommend restaurants, make reservations and arrange just about anything you want.... At 155pounds per night it's a great deal for London.. We would return to the Sumner

“Wonderful Stay”
Loved this hotel, beautiful atmosphere and we felt at home. The staff were always available and were ready to make us a cup of coffee anytime (even at 2am). A big thank you to Maros who works at night, he was so friendly and always ready to assist us. The rooms were big enough, especially for London size rooms. Breakfast was nice, there was hot and cold food. The location was convenient, very close to Marble Arch. I would deffinately stay here again! Source: Trip Advisor

“a real little gem”
The Sumner Hotel is a real little gem. It si ideally located at the center of London and provides a nice unique atmosphere.
The room was spacious, clean, with a very nice bathroom. It is also very quiet in the room, and it is a rare thing in such a big city.
The breakfast was delicious.

“My home away from home in London!”
This was my second time staying at the lovely Sumner Hotel. I was in town with 5 lovely ladies to attend the Chelsea Flower Show. We stayed at the Sumner Hotel based on my recommendation and everyone was very pleased.
The rooms are very nice, bathrooms are clean and modern. The daily breakfast is a delight, they even had marmite for me to try! We utilized the sitting room every evening.
The hotel is on a quiet street just a short walk to Marble Arch tube station, the HOHO tour bus stop and many restarants and pubs.
The front desk staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble, they are always cheerful and friendly.
I hope to return to London soon and willbe making The Sumner my home base again!
Thanks Sumner for making our stay in London so pleasant!! Source: Trip Advisor

“Very good deal on quiet street”
Stayed here for four nights. Great included breakfast, friendly staff. Slightly off the beaten path but close to all the sights. Good pub right next door, and several more restaurants and shops up the street on the way to Paddington Station, which by the way was a reasonable walk to the Heathrow Express at Paddington if you are so inclined.

“Boutique Hotel that really looks after it's guest”
After a long haul flight from New Zealand we arrived at the Sumner to discover that they did not have our booking (not their fault but ours!) they were fully booked for that night but could accommodate us the following night. The receptionist after some searching managed to find us another hotel for that night, we were so grateful. So although we only had one night at this hotel we would highly recommend it. Our room and all the other amenities were of a high standard, a comfy bed with quality linen ensured a good nights sleep and breakfast the next morning was more than substantial. This hotel is in a great location handy to many major attractions, Marble Arch Tube and Paddington Train Station. In our opinion these small boutique hotels are far superior to the bigger brand ones were you are often just a room number. Source: Trip Advisor

“Perfect location, perfect hotel, didn't want to leave!”
The staff of the hotel were helpful and friendly. They gave us good recommendations for restaurants and places to see. This hotel is conveniently located near an underground station, so traveling around London was simple! The rooms of the hotel are very clean and tidy. The beds are very comfortable, and we slept well. Breakfast in the morning was the perfect way to start the day. Eggs, sausages, fruits, vegetables, sweetbread and cereal are just some of the items served. I would not stay anywhere else! Source: Trip Advisor

“perfect location”
This was a lovely boutique hotel. The staff, esp. the young man who worked at the desk at night, was very helpful.
I had a room in the 'basement'....one step outside my door and I turned right into the dining area for breakfast....never heard any noise....nice room.
Any wi-fi problems were quickly fixed, which was great to have! You are just a few blocks from the Marble Arch and the underground....there are also quite a few buses to catch in this area.
It was great to spend the day or evening out and then find a Pret a manger nearby for a quick hot tea or cappuccino.
The Middle Eastern restaurant and the grocery store across the street had delectable foods, esp. the awesome nougat candies! Source: Trip Advisor

“Fantastic small hotel in great location”
We stayed here for one night in July, and wanted somewhere close to the restaurants we were visiting on both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday lunchtime. I left it a bit late to book, so ended up paying more than I normally do but I have to admit it was well worth it.
The hotel is about 5 minute walk to Marble Arch/Hyde Park and the restaurants in Mayfair, and the same to Marble Arch tube station, leading to Oxford Road so a great location for what we wanted to do - we saved a fortune in taxi fares!
I loved the spacious room, which was very clean and had air con you could control. The bathroom was slightly small but lots of large fluffy towels, lovely shower and lots of nice toiletries.
We used the lounge a few times to relax in, and there is a computer and printer you can use. There is also free wifi throughout the hotel which was great for us. There were also free bottles of mineral water, kiddies sweets and kitkats which was great for an afternoon stop.
Breakfast is only served from 8-9:30 which wasn't very convenient, but you can arrange an earlier breakfast if you need to check out. Choice was good - cooked breakfast, cereal, lots of fresh fruit and yoghurt, pastries, salad, ham and cheeses, juice and tea/coffee.
Overall, I really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely consider going back Source: Trip Advisor

“Smart Townhouse Hotel near Marble Arch”
My husband and I stayed at The Sumner for 2 nights, early July and were very pleased with my choice of accommodation (yes, I researched here on Tripadvisor first, then shared options with my husband).
The Hotel is located in a side street within couple minutes walk of Marble Arch tube station. There's no big hotel sign on the building, just a discreet brass plaque next to the front door. Good choice of restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
Check-in was efficient and friendly and we were shown how the door keys work (they're slightly different to the usual hotel swipe keys). The interior is very smart and spotlessly clean; nice artwork in the lounge, where there was a computer for guests' use. There are two flights of stairs and two separate lifts to various bedrooms, as the hotel consists of two townhouses. Reception is located at the rear of the hotel, which was a bit confusing on arrival.
Our room (109) was on the 4th floor (lift available) and overlooked the road; it was very spacious by London standards, although the en-suite shower room was compact in comparison (according to my husband: seemed fine to me!). Furnishings looked brand new and towels were thick and soft. Nice touch to have complimentary bottles of mineral water in the room. Note: no tea/coffee facilities in the room, but you can order hot drinks from reception for a reasonable charge.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and is taken in the basement breakfast room, which is very light and bright. There's a good choice of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheese board, bread and crackers, juices and hot dishes. Certainly enough for a good start to the day.
If you don't need indoor pool, spa, restaurant, room service etc, and are looking for a central location at a very reasonable price by London standards, The Sumner may well be the perfect hotel for your London stay. Source: Trip Advisor
