“Delightful boutique hotel”
The Sumner is a delightful boutique hotel which is conviently located for visiting central London. We stayed there for five days after returning from a bus tour of the Cotswolds. Very nice, pleasant and very helpful staff who project a desire to please (they really try to deliver). The buffet breakfast is varied for many tastes, and had a good fruit selection which I really appreciated. Our room was very beautifully furnished and was maintained very well during our stay by housekeeping. My only complaint about the room is that I prefer feather pillows to foam ones.
“This is how a hotel should be run.”
We were three couples travelling together in London in early September to celebrate one couple`s 50th wedding anniversary. The service from the hotel, from Rohit, the manager, to the cleaning staff was professionel and effecient. More than effecient-outstanding.
They seemed to enjoy their work and were extremely friendly without being familiar. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The breakfasts, served buffet style, were large and very well prepared. They could not have been more accomodating. Rohit even walked us to St. Christopher`s place to make sure we would find it.
For the price, we do not think the Sumner can be beat. We would go so far to say that even if price were no object, we would stay at the Sumner over any other hotel in London.
We enjoyed London a great deal due in no small part to the staff at the Sumner.
We spent a hot post-olympics august weekend in this tiny hotel in a quiet street off Oxford Street. Fab staff, fab rooms with quiet air-con, complementary water and wifi in the room. Really really nice room: huge bed and fresh bathroom. Cool library with books, a mac and free snacks. Nice! Decent buffet breakfast. Good variety of freshly cut fruit and vegetables.
Quite a few cool non-chain shops nearby and a very nice and friendly pub next door. Excellent location for shopping and west end fun. Got a good deal through hotels.com.
Upon my arrival for the Olympics, I had no idea of what to expect. I have stayed in London on previous trips and stayed at the large “chain hotels”. I was very surprised to find the perfect location (two blocks from the metro,Hyde park, and shopping on Oxford Street)…the Sumner.
My room was facing the street but the room was sound proof. Larger than expected, very clean and well kept. The free breakfast was excellent. But the real positive was the staff, led by Ricardo Andrade. He would greet all the guests each evening returning from the Olympic venues and always made sure any care or concern was handled. Every day the staff quickly and knowlegably would help with directions, reservations, and suggestions.
I would recommend to anyone this is an outstanding boutique hotel with a great location and outstanding staff….I will be back soon.
“Best place to live”
I had visited with my family. Best place to live. Awesome breakfast. Manager (Mr. Rohit) is a very kind person and all the staff members are also very good in nature. We would definately visit again. Thanks for providing us such a worderful hospitality.
“Fantastic stay at the Sumner with a staff who aims to please!”
We stayed 3 nights at the Sumner and from the moment we arrived, the staff went to work making our stay exceptional. We were able to check in early and given help with our bags. In fact, the staff helped us with all questions and throughout our stay clearly wanted us to feel comfortable and taken care of. The room was compact, but comfortable, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was included in our rate and included a wide variety or breads, cheeses, fruit, eggs, meats etc. The location was only a 5 minute walk from the Central line’s Mare Arch station. Oxford street and Hyde Park were highly accessible. A highlight of our stay was the help and care given by Ricardo. He greeted us each evening with a smile and brought up a tray of tea and small sweets each night. As with the others on staff, he clearly wanted us to have a great stay…which we did! I would highly recommend this hotel for exceptional service, good location, and comfortable rooms.
“Very friendly and welcoming”
My wife and I chose this hotel without any real sense of exactly where we wanted to stay in London. Boy, did we pick a good one! The hotel was very clean; our room was on the second floor, facing the street, bright, large and nicely decorated.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming, special thanks to Noami, the receptionist on duty on our arrival. Another good thing about the hotel is its location. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the vicinity, and some very upscale stores along Oxford Street. The completely unplanned walk to Notting Hill and the Portobello Road Market was one of the best things we did in London. Other than sleep, we spent little time in the room, but loved the hotel.
We stayed here in July 2011 for a week and loved it! The location is great (you must go to Hyde Park on Sunday). The staff was very polite and friendly. The breakfast was very good and filling. The room was small, but we weren’t expecting a suite, so it was no bother. I highly recommend this place.
I have been at the hotel last week. Everything was perfect, the service level, amaizyng. I have to reinforce the attitude of Mr. Ricardo Melgarejo and of the Hotel Manager (I don’t remember his name), because I felt really their support to make my short time at London easyer. Thanks for all, Miguel Bosch
My daughter and I stayed for 9 days in May while attending a family wedding. The Sumner is a fabulous hotel and the staff is exceptional. From the moment we arrived everyone was very helpful in getting us to parties and the wedding, while also recommending sightseeing. It is a great location with a terrific Pub on the corner where we toasted each evening before retiring. The complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate and biscuits were a lovely touch and breakfast was delicious with many choices! Our room was so comfortable, clean and quiet. Ricardo was a pleasure to work with during our stay and was extremely informative. We will be staying again next time we come to London. Thank you to everyone at the Sumner for making our trip so memorable and fun.
“Home in London”
I stayed at The Sumner for 10 days in May/June 2012. I was entirely on my own, first trip to England and received excellent personal attention (what would I have done without Ricardo, Vitalia and Naomi?!), The Sumner has best location, less than 200 mts. to March Arch Underground Station and Oxford St., plenty of restaurants very close by. I would return without a doubt at any time.
“Service, Location and Luxury”
Stayed in this hotel for a couple days, and I could not be happier. Its just a great place with a really nice atmosphere – a nice personal touch about it, yet still a luxurious experience… Ofcourse the Location is just perfect, short walk to Oxford street, the great food on Edgware Road – 1 min walk!. Staff were great at recommending places in case you feel adventurous;) I really dont have anything bad to say about this hotel and will be recommending it to all my friends and family.
“Excellent hotel staff and fantastic atmosphere!”
I stayed at the hotel in July 2012 for 3 nights and I truly recommend it! The location is great, the rooms and whole atmosphere is relaxing, breakfast very good, internet working fast and most of all the staff there is excellent!!! A special thanks to Mr. Ricardo Melgarejo form the reception who did everything possible to make my stay will be a pleasant one! Many thanks!
“AMAZING HOTEL…. NTN BETTER….”
Its just wow…. keep it up……..Frankly speaking, the photo looks better then in reality. The hotel was clean and tidy, people are very friendly and supportive. Breakfast was excellent, just the pool area was not as expected. In their Emirates Holidays Brochure it was said that it would be on the top of the building, but in fact it is not the top of the building it is top of the lobby. The sauna and fitness center was great, even we fly Emirates Airline Business Class they did not offer us an early check-in like in most of the other hotels. The last day, I gave tips to the concierge to handle our luggage and to take it to the complimentary chauffeur driver of Emirates Airline, but he just took it and let the other guys get the job done. Later they asked for more tips, but I’m not a cash machine and can give everyone tips.
We stayed at the Sumner on 23/07/12 for one night only. The service received from booking to leaving was just superb. In fact when we returned to collect our baggage in the afternoon, whilst no longer officially guests, we were provided with complimentary tea /coffee & biscuits. The hotel is beautifully appointed and spotless throughout, and the air-con super efficient. There are lovely touches as well such as bowls of snacks and children’s sweets in the lounge. Breakfast also very good. This was also the quietest night we have ever spent in a London hotel. We would happily recommend this hotel to family and friends.
